Layouts for journal

This is actually part of a layout fo my own childhood journal. Main papers are Pink Paislee London Market which have been crumpled and inked and sprayed.  Made envelope  to the left and distressed with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.  The swirl was cut from a Magnolia Doohickey die.  The twig was from the garden, wrapped with dyed muslin and then sewn to page with string.  Two of the flowers are handmade from the same paper range.  The blue pin was made by Nan.

A different view of the same layout.  Main background page was sewn by machine onto a piece of Kraft cardstock.  The chipboard words were dyed with Black Soot and Weathered Wood and then covered with Inkssentials Glossy Accents.  The lace is from Bella Paperie.

This is a different layout using the same paper range London Market Bird was cut from the same paper range and mounted on a painted twig from the garden.  A dyed piece of muslin sewn onto background with machine.

This is the top part of a layout using My Minds Eye Lime Twist range  Ink splotches are Tattered Angels Glimmermist with some bling added for texture

Plain blue and white Bazzill Cardstock for this simple layout with some more ink splotches using Tattered Angels Glimmermist

Used a piece of Kraft cardstock as main background and spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmermist.  The white border was cut from a border and corner Martha Stewart punch.  The rose ribbon is from stock as is the lace and alphabet.  The large rose lace is from Kaisercraft.  Used Distress Inks to colour the alphas and then topped with Glossy Accents

Like the simplicity of this one with once again, Kraft cardstock as background and texture.  The lace trim is from Prima and the flower and leaves are from stock.

Sprayed the Kraft cardstock with Pearl Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and the White cardstock with Walnut Gold.  The Kraft cardstock was inked with Versa Color Pinecone

I was inspired by one of Louise Nelson's very simple layouts for the background of this piece - very effective overall

These colors are very bright for me, but the photo called for something bright and cheery.  Used a template and Dylusions sprays for the background.  Used the end of the glue bottle dipped in Black Soot ink for the circles

The blue lace under the flowers is from Glitz Designs  The flowers are from Tim Holtz

This is a very colourful piece.  The topic is a fairy party.  Colored the vine in white and green and then embossed.  White muslin for the background and a large piece of chipboard was used for the mask using a Dylusion spray.  The butterfly is from stock and once again embossed with white

Using up more of the My Minds Eye Lime Twist for this baby layout.  Also made the flowers and butterfly using the same paper range

Pale pink and blue Bazzill cardstock for the background.  Muslin, lace and a few of my mum's buttons and the tiny little butterflies from a Martha Stewart punch.  Had the string in my sewing stock for years

Added a little sewing around the edges for texture as well as sewing some of the background papers on the machine

Next uploads will be my finished baby project when given to recipient.

Peaks of finished layouts

I am working on an ongoing project for my daughter.  I am 'scrapping' a favourite photo of each year and then intend to add journalling and all the other photos behind the main page for that year.  I do not intend to add her photo as depicted in the layouts (as lots of bloggers do), but will add parts of layouts showing techniques used in compilation of the finished piece.

This may be attributable to my age, but in this day and age, I think privacy is something we still have (to some extent) under our own control.

I have this project, as well as lots of other layouts, mixed media and art in partly finished piles to be added as I reach completion

Finishing projects

Have FINALLY finished a project for a friend - delivering to her Wednesday - a book with photos for her bub's first year - (she has to add the journalling); a door hanger; a music box and a heart shaped 'fabric' hanging made from paper which was transferred to sticky back canvas with added embellishments - happy with the end result. Posts soon (once I have delivered)

Scrapbook/art retreat this weekend

We are able to commence at 9.30 (a whole extra day!), so will be able to post a number of layouts I have been doing.  Got my mojo back because putting a book together for my daughter, will get back to my painting and wreaths soon.

Stay tuned . . .
