Week 2 - Marks All 'Painting'

I finished this 'painting' last weekend, but only had a chance to  frame it today.  I found an old brown frame with a touch of silver around the centre in my stash.  Painted with cream paint and then covered with Tim Holtz tape to give a bit of an 'old world' effect.

This was quite a detailed project which involved Marks All 'Painting'.  Searched everywhere for these pencils, but found some at the Art Shed.  They are called Scribe-ALL (all surface pencil).

The work was done on Watercolour paper to enable machine sewing.  Lots of Mixed Media techniques were  used as well as Scribe-ALL pencils, charcoal, inks, Faber Castell markers, old book and music paper (as first background) painters tape to mask sections etc.

Finished picture size (before framing) is 16" x 11.5"

I like how the background is not completely covered with paint/ink/pencil

The words say listening to the whispers in my heart
Printed the words on to sticky back canvas and then sewed around the edges

butterflies were cut from old music paper using Martha Stewart butterfly punch
machine stitched through the centres and then 'joined' all the butterflies together with machine stitching

On to my next project . . .
