Keepsake Box

I finally finished the Keepsake Box for my friend's 50th birthday.  It will be used to store her cards.  The colour theme matches the invitations and the birthday card (posted a little while ago).

The box started out as a basic raw heavy chipboard type, similar in quality to a lot of the Kaisercraft range board books etc.  I removed the hinges and front closure before painting areas which would remain exposed and then covered with plain white Bazzill cardstock on the outside.  On the inside I used a quilted cardstock, typically used for wedding invitations which I purchased from Eckersley's quite some time ago.

The pearl strands were purchased from Bead Trimming & Craft Co, South Brisbane - I love browsing through this store - can wander for ages! The beautiful organza ribbon was bought from Scaffs Fabrics (this was also used on the card)

This photo was taken outside to try and capture realistic colours.
Where the lace (bought from Gardams Fabrics) joined at the front, I added a row of stranded pearls and coloured with one of the BG range Copic Markers

The tiny row of pearls at the bottom were from the Kaisercraft strips (4 in a pack)

Bottom of the box.  I bought some small wooden door handles from the local hardware store and painted them white

Close up of the top of the box.  Can't remember which brand the pearl swirls are - Prima, I think.  The cut-out Bazzill cardstock was done using the Cricut Paper Lace cartridge

The inside of the box showing the quilted cardstock

This is the inside of the box lid.  I kept with the Audrey Hepburn theme by photocopying my friend's favourite photo from Breakfast at Tiffany's onto vellum and let it dry very well before attaching

Close up of the side of the box. I think the soft white flower is Pink Paislee (it came in a pack of 3 with a grey and a black one) The other white flowers are from my stash.  It is hard to see in the photo but I added some Mica Flakes to the soft white flower to give a 'gentle' sparkle.

I made this little tag to be kept inside the box to reflect that the box is full of love and best wishes on such a special occasion.  I used one of my favourite quotes and printed on a tag (Magnolia Doohickey die).  The stamp is from the Ippity 'Fall for You' range and says:
'laugh with your eyes, hug with your soul and smile with your heart'

The top of the box is layered with cardstock and patterned paper.  I Love the new Prima Ledger Paper stack' and the muted colours of one of the papers was perfect for this project

Birthday Card for a friend

This is the card I made to be given with the Canvas.  Once again, did some sewing and distressing of edges.  I used my Copic Marker pen (can't remember which one) to colour some of the pearls to match the project.

Sourced this beautiful image from the Crafty Secrets 'Sew Nice' Creative Scraps sheet

The sentiment reads:
'Let us grow old like beautiful lace.  Cherished and treasured and cared for with Grace'

A canvas for Grandma

I recently finalised this canvas for a friend's birthday.  The gorgeous baby is her newest grand-daughter and the photo was taken at her christening.

Left hand side of canvas (this little Scrapmatts pram matched perfectly - only added some pearls and bling)

Full canvas (8" x 10") - lighting not too good for this one

I am liking sewing on a lot of my work now and adding ribbon hearts and butterflies as much as possible.
